Erg Abu Diab

Overview

Erg Abu Diab is located near Ras Banas. The cone-shaped reef reaches a depth of over 100 meters. It consists of a steep wall all around and can be rounded within 30 minutes, as far as the very often occurring strong current allows it.

Description

This spot is typical of the biodiversity of the southern Red Sea, but also known for encounters with large sharks. Often the diver meets groups of hammerhead sharks. But also the encounter with gray sharks and thresher sharks is likely here and with good luck among them also an oceanic white tip shark.

Hotspots

Even if the sharks are absent, the drop off shows a wonderful vegetation and dense schools of fish brush along the reef wall.
