St. Johns / Elba Reef
Explore the remote reefs of St. John's and the untouched beauty of Elba Reef. Dive spectacular walls, caves, and pristine coral gardens, with unforgettable encounters with turtles, reef sharks, dolphins, and abundant marine life.
Route Highlights
- The spectacular underwater life in St. Johns is well worth the long journey. The reef walls are bursting with life: Huge fan and soft corals, caves and overhangs are just as much a part of it as the humphead parrotfish found in the northern Red Sea and measuring up to 1.80 meters in length! Up to eight different species of sharks such as thresher sharks, schools of hammerheads, tiger sharks and even longmani are regularly sighted here. Wonderfully overgrown reef roofs with lots of "small things" provide a change from the spectacular "blue water dives"!
- After another long drive we reach the Elba Reef.
- In the northern part of Sudan, on the border with Egypt, there are three reefs that we call the Elba region. Huge corals lie on the edge of the plateau. You can also spot some large gray reef sharks and even hammerhead sharks. Here the underwater world is hardly dived and only a few safari ships offering the long journey.
